Before I tell you how to find your first job, allow me to introduce myself. This is HariHaranG from Madurai,India. During my overall experience, I have observed one super simple way(or trick) which you can use to easily find your first job. Of course, this is not magic. This only works for the candidates having enough skills, but can’t find the right opportunity for any reason. Have you ever thought, “Damn, I’m good, I’ve enough skills, why can’t I find a job?” If yes, then this trick is for you.

And the trick is

Did you know that 98% of recruiters and 85% of hiring managers use LinkedIn to find qualified candidates for open positions. This makes LinkedIn the place to be if you are a job seeker or if you want to stand out from other candidates. In this LinkedIn job search tutorial, you’ll learn how to use LinkedIn to find a job.

You'll learn 5 simple LinkedIn profile tips that will help you make the right types of connections on LinkedIn, personalize your connection requests and grow your network quickly. These LinkedIn tips are essential if you want to find a job using LinkedIn.

Linkedin: Connecting to the right people in your field

Yes, that’s the first step. If you think you are skilled enough, connect to the right people in your field. When I say the “right people”, I mean the people who are open to help, open to guide, and open to connect you to the opportunity. And, how would you know that before you contact the person? It’s simple, you cannot. You cannot know a person who can help you out. All you have to do is, connect as many people in your industry as you can. Connect via LinkedIn, via Email, or via any other professional medium. Once connected, get it straight and simple, update them about your situation and skills(in brief), and ask for the help and guidance.

I talk to a lot of HRs daily, and when I ask for the help or guidance or advice, they always do. Deep down, we all are human. We all know we need each other’s help. And, in most cases, you get when you ask.

I guess explaining this with an example would be a lot better.

Imagine you are in the IT field. Then connecting to me on LinkedIn would hardly take 1 minute to you. Why me? Because I do have a lot of good HR connections in the IT field in India. Once we are connected, you can directly drop me a message.I can help here, I can guide, I can connect to the right opportunity, that’s exactly what I do in my spare time. But, if you are not connected to me on LinkedIn, believing my words would be harder for you. I understand your situation.

"In short, finalize your field of interest, connect to the people who are open to help and guide you in your field, update them about your skills and preferred job profiles. The chances are very high(if asked politely and properly) that you will get a positive response."

Of course, connecting to me only works when you are looking for a job in the IT field. What if you are looking for a job in the other field? The method is the same, follow it. Find the right people, connect to them, ask them for help.

What you can do to help job seekers?

  1. If s/he in the IT field, connect us. That’s what I do on LinkedIn. I connect relevant people.
  2. If possible, do write a small post for them on your wall. Mention their top skills, preferred job location, profile interested. Try to make a post interesting so that it gets enough attention.
  3. If someone has written a post for a job change, do like and share it with your network.
  4. If you know someone who can help a job seeker, take a step and connect.

As of now, I know these ways. If you know other ways, please do share it in the comment section, I will edit it in this list with your credit.
